Deadly shooting investigation in south Sacramento

SACRAMENTO - A woman died from gunshot wounds in Sacramento early Sunday morning and a suspect is now under arrest.

Just before 3 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2000 block of 67th Avenue in Sacramento. According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers arrived at the reported location of the shooting and found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation. One person was also detained. 

Sacramento police later announced that they had arrested that person, 47-year-old Brian Christiansen, as a suspect in the incident. 

Christiansen has been booked into Sacramento County Jail on homicide charges. 

No other suspects are believed to be outstanding, police said. 

The name of the woman who died has not been released.
