Woman Fights Off Ex By Throwing Knife At Him

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) -- San Bernardino sheriff's officials say a woman allegedly attacked with a knife by her ex-boyfriend fought back with a larger knife of her own, fending him off.

The Sun newspaper says deputies found 18-year-old Jonathan Chavez walking along a road Tuesday bleeding from a stab wound to his lower back.

Investigators learned Chavez had gone to his ex-girlfriend's house to talk about their recent breakup. When she refused to let him in, deputies say, he tried to stab her with a pocket knife through a screen door.

Officials say the two struggled and the woman threw a knife at him, hitting him and causing him to run off.

Chavez was treated at a hospital and arrested. It wasn't immediately known if he has a lawyer.
