Woman Accused Of Biting Officer At San Diego Border Crossing
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Federal officials say a woman was arrested on suspicion of biting a Customs and Border Protection officer who stopped her as she tried to enter the U.S. by walking through the vehicle lanes at a San Diego border crossing.
CBP spokeswoman Jackie Wasiluk says the woman was stopped Monday afternoon at the San Ysidro port of entry and asked to use the pedestrian lanes.
When she failed to comply, agents attempted to take her into custody.
Officials say the woman became verbally abusive and physically aggressive, and bit one officer on the leg.
Wasiluk said Tuesday that the 41-year-old woman, an American citizen, could face federal charges related to assaulting an officer. Her name was not released.
San Ysidro is the nation's busiest port of entry, processing almost about 100,000 people entering the United States every day.
