Woman, 44, Killed In Crash Outside Of Robbins
ROBBINS (CBS13) – A woman was killed after her car was hit by another car along Highway 113 just outside of Robbins Friday morning.
According to California Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. The woman had been in some kind of accident that left her car facing north in the southbound lane of Highway 113, just north of Seymour Road.
Due to the first crash damaging the driver's side door, the woman – who has only been identified as a 44-year-old Robbins resident – tried to get out of her car using the passenger door. However, it was at this point that another car heading south on the freeway tried to pass by.
CHP says that the driver of the second car tried to swerve out of the way, but it was too late and he hit the passenger side of the woman's car.
The crash left the woman with major injuries. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP notes that fog in the area at the time reduced visibility to around 500-800 feet. Investigators do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
