Wildfire Burns Over Inmate Firefighting Crew In El Dorado County
EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) - A crew of inmate firefighters battling the King Fire in El Dorado County were threatened by fast-moving flames Monday.
The crew of 13 men was on the active fire line when, according to fire officials, the fire shifted direction and did what firefighters call a burnover. Fortunately, the inmates were able to get under their fire shelters in time, resulting in no injuries. However, the damaged a bulldozer and other equipment.
Cal Fire's last official update on the King Fire was that it had burned 3,900 acres, with 10 percent containment.
