Walmart Store Opens Amid Controversy In Lodi
LODI (CBS13) - After 10 years of legal battles, delays, and two years of construction, the doors have finally opened for Lodi's Walmart Super-center, on Kettleman Lane and Lower Sacramento Road.
Many residents of Lodi fought against the new Walmart, saying it would be a negative change for their small town.
"I think residents were just Concerned that Lodi was a small town and smaller businesses. Smaller grocery stores are concerned they would put them out of business but I think it's a good thing for the community," said Lodi resident Susan Handel. "I think they have to go with the flow what else are they gonna do."
The old Walmart Located directly across the street from the new super center closed Tuesday and is the future home to Hobby Lobby.
