Vigil Planned For Teens Killed In Wrong Way Crash On Interstate 80

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A vigil will be held on Saturday for three teens killed in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 80.

Matt Azar, Kendra Langham and Matthew Beardwitt died on Jan. 10 when a wrong way driver hit them near Madison Avenue. The CHP says that driver did not have his headlights on as he slammed into them, head-on.

The suspected DUI driver, 24-year-old Aaron Caudillo, was the sole survivor of the crash. If he doesn't die, the CHP says he will face felony DUI and manslaughter charges.

The vigil will be held in Auburn. A memorial is planned for Beardwitt on Saturday morning at Cavitt Stallman Latter Day Saints Church in Granite Bay.

Two of the victims – Langham and Matthew Beardwitt, both 18 – worked at a Taco Bell in Granite Bay. The store manager says they were both outstanding employees and the team is in disbelief that they lost these two.

"They were great employees, they were great kids," said store manager Nancy Fernandez. "This is, like, my family. These kids are like my family."
