Man and dog hurt in Vacaville hit-and-run

VACAVILLE – Authorities are looking for the driver who hit a 73-year-old man while out on a walk with his dog in Vacaville and took off.

"Snowman" and his owner were out near Browns Valley Road and VacaValley Parkway Monday night when they were hit, Vacaville police say.

The man suffered a fractured hip and femur along with a dislocated shoulder, police say; Snowman was able to limp off to a nearby house.

Police say it appears that Snowman was dragged for a bit before he somehow got free.

Felony Hit and Run

Vacaville community detectives, we have a new one for you. Last night, around 9:15pm, a 73-year-old-man was out for a walk his dog, Snowman. While in the crosswalk at the intersection of Browns Valley Rd. and Vacavalley Pky., they were both struck by a vehicle. The man was thrown onto the roadway, and it appears Snowman was likely dragged under the vehicle for some distance before escaping. Rather than stop and check on them, the driver fled the scene, and this is where we need your help. If you’ve noticed any vehicles with any new or suspicious front-end damage, please give us a call. Officers are looking into surveillance cameras in the area, and we know someone out there knows something. The man suffered a dislocated shoulder, and fractured hip and femur. He underwent surgery today and has a long road ahead. Snowman limped off to a nearby house and was eventually reunited with his family. He too is recovering from his significant injuries.
