Vacaville Boy, 12, Hit And Dragged By SUV; Will Be OK

VACAVILLE (CBS13) - Police say a child escaped with only a broken leg after being hit and dragged by an SUV Thursday morning.

The incident happened near N. Orchard Avenue and Deodara Street. Vacaville Police say a 12-year-old boy was riding his bike and was trying to cross the street when he was hit by an SUV.

Apparently, the driver didn't see the boy. Police say the boy was dragged for a short distance before the SUV stopped.

The boy was rushed to the hospital and luckily escaped with only a possibly broken leg. Police note he was wearing helmet, likely saving him from other major injuries.

Police advise drivers to be extra cautious during the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up hours.
