Utah Cat Beating Suspect Arrested After Owner's Nanny Cam Video Surfaces

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Utah man has been arrested after authorities say a hidden video camera in the home where he was staying captured him violently beating a cat.

Authorities say 19-year-old Jordan Lindquist of Saratoga Springs was taken into custody Friday on a felony animal cruelty charge.

Police called it torture and say they're surprised the cat survived the attack.

The animal was seen being shaken, grabbed by the tail, punched in the head and slammed to the ground.

Authorities say the cat's owner installed a "nanny cam" surveillance system after spending hundreds of dollars on vet bills for injuries from suspected abuse.

Lindquist was living with the owner's family. He posted $5,000 bail Sunday.

The Associated Press couldn't verify whether Lindquist had a listed telephone number or an attorney who could comment on the charge.
