USMNT Announce 2015 Schedule Through June
The U.S. will play exhibition games next spring at Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany as it prepares to defend its title at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The Americans announced six exhibition games for the first half of the year on Tuesday. They open the year Jan. 28 at Chile, and then host Panama on Feb. 8 at Carson, California, in a pair of matches before the Major League Soccer season. The games are not on FIFA calendar dates, so most Europe-based players likely will not be available.
The U.S. plays at Denmark on March 27 and at Switzerland four days later, both on FIFA dates. In a game likely to feature players primarily from MLS, the Americans host Mexico on April 15 at a site to be announced.
In two more games before the Gold Cup, the Americans are at the Netherlands on June 5, and then play Germany five days later in Cologne.
The Gold Cup takes place from July 7-26. If the U.S. wins, it will play in the 2017 Confederations Cup. If the Americans fail to win, they will meet the 2015 champion in a playoff for a Confederations Cup berth.
