Timeline shows suspect's movements in UnitedHealthcare CEO's killing
New York — The suspect in the shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan was arrested Monday in Pennsylvania and is now charged with Thompson's murder.
The arrest came hours after NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said 26-year-old Luigi Mangione had been identified as a person of interest in the case.
Thompson, a 50-year-old father of two, was in New York City for an investors' conference on Wednesday, Dec. 4, when he was shot outside the Hilton Midtown Hotel on Sixth Avenue.
Chilling surveillance video shows the suspect lying in wait for Thompson before shooting him in the back and the leg, using a gun with a silencer. Police said the suspect fled the scene, riding a bike up to Central Park and the Upper West Side, where he was spotted by additional security cameras.
Joseph Kenny, the Police Department's chief of detectives, said the gunman is believed to have arrived in New York on Nov. 24 on a bus that originated in Atlanta, and police believe he left the city on a bus after the shooting.
The FBI, which is also assisting the NYPD with the investigation, announced a $50,000 reward Friday night for information leading to an arrest in the case.
Here's everything we know about when and where the masked gunman was seen.
