UFC's T.J. Dillashaw To Leave Team Alpha Male

T.J. Dillashaw, UFC's bantamweight champion, announced on Stud Show Radio Tuesday his departure from Sacramento's Team Alpha Male. He will join the Colorado-based Elevation Fight Team.

"I will be training with Elevation Fight Team out of Colorado," Dillashaw told the radio podcast. "Elevation Fight team came to me and they want to pay me some good money to train with them."

The move is somewhat of a surprise, as the Angels Camp-native and Bret Harte High School alum has been a California guy for most of his fighting career.

"If anybody else was in my situation," Dillashaw said, "they would take the same exact deal. This is a very short-lived career. I have to do what's best for my career and being on top for as long as possible."

At 29-years-old, Dillashaw has been the bantamweight champ since he took down Renan Barao in an unlikely upset in May of 2014. He will have a chance to defend his title again on Jan. 17 in a headliner match of UFC Fight Night 81 against Dominick Cruz.
