UC Davis Researcher Killed By Protesters Throwing Stones In Ethiopia
DAVIS (CBS13) - A UC Davis researcher was killed Wednesday in Ethiopia when the vehicle she was riding in was stoned by protesters.
Sharon Gray, 31, was a postdoctoral researcher in the university's plant biology department.
The university says she was in Ethiopia to attend a meeting. Protesters reportedly hurled stones at the car Gray was riding in. Another staff member was traveling with her but was not hurt.
Ethiopia has been seeing unrest since November 2015 due to political tensions. According to the BBC, 55 people were killed on Sunday during a protest and stampede in the country's Oromia Region.
