Suspect Hurt, Second Suspect Sought After Deputy-Involved Shooting Near Tracy

TRACY (CBS13) – The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deputy-involved shooting near Tracy early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around midnight on Chrisman Road near 11th Street in San Joaquin County.

A San Joaquin County sheriff's deputy was responding to a call for service for a burglary in progress at a business in the area. The deputy confronted a man who he claims was armed before multiple shots were fired.

The deputy was then dragged by the suspect's vehicle. A witness, Brendon Simpson, said the suspect revved the vehicle before putting it into gear and going for about 100 feet.

According to Simpson, the incident started when he got an alert that someone was tampering with his surveillance camera on his plumbing business on Carmelo in Tracy.

The San Joaquin Sheriff's Department said one suspect was wounded and taken to the hospital with no life-threatening injuries. The other suspect, reportedly a woman, took off from the scene.

Business owners in the area said they have had theft issues in recent months. The deputy involved in the shooting was not hurt and has been put on administrative leave per department procedure.
