Three Things The Seahawks Should Have Done Instead Of Throwing To Ricardo Lockette
Much has been made of the Seahawks' decision to throw the ball on the one-yard line with the Super Bowl on the line - a decision that resulted in a game-ending interception by New England's Malcolm Butler. Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch is widely considered to be the best short-yardage back in football, and with the Seahawks still holding a timeout on second down, it appeared to be a no-brainer to give the ball to Lynch and give him three chances to gain a yard. At least, it appeared that way to everyone but the Seattle coaching staff. Here are three things the Seahawks should have done instead of throwing the ball at the end of the game.
1. Give The Ball To Marshawn Lynch
The dude literally caused an earthquake once because he runs so hard.
2. Give The Ball To Marshawn Lynch
I mean, seriously, you don't think this guy could get one yard if you give him three tries?
3. Give The Ball To Marshawn Lynch
It would be really difficult to make the message any more clear. His nickname is "Beast Mode". He eats linebackers and safeties for breakfast. He is the most difficult back to tackle in the NFL. He can fall forward three feet without any blockers, yet he wasn't trusted to find his way into the endzone.
Next time, Pete, don't overthink it. You have the best back in the league, and you're a yard away from immortality. Give Marshawn the damn football.
