Three Guys The Kings Should Chase Before The Trade Deadline
The NBA trade deadline is Thursday afternoon, which means the Kings have very little time with which to work if they plan to make drastic roster changes this season. Here are a few guys that they should target before tomorrow afternoon.
1. Kenneth Faried - Denver Nuggets
Faried was a standout under George Karl in Denver, averaging nearly a double-double and shooting almost 60% from the field before falling out of favor with Karl's replacement, Brian Shaw. Rumors have been swirling around Faried since Shaw took over, and if the Kings can find the right pieces, Faried would have a chance to flourish after being reunited with Karl.
2. Goran Dragic - Phoenix Suns
Dragic told the Suns he wouldn't be re-signing with them when his contract expires this summer, giving them just a few days to unload a guy that averaged twenty points and six assists last year. This could be an opportunity for the Kings to buy low, as Dragic's statement pretty much tanked whatever trade market he had (at least for the Suns). Dragic might not be the best fit, and he may not re-sign with the Kings, but that move would certainly make a splash with the fans and media.
3. Arron Afflalo - Denver Nuggets
Again, another guy that would be reunited with his former coach. Afflalo would be a less attractive acquisition than the other two guys on the list, but he might be the best fit. Afflalo is a solid pro who fills a lot of needs - shoots the three, plays the D, and has a high basketball IQ. You know what you're going to get every night, and he's probably the most prototypical player of the three in terms of his adaptability to a new system. He also might require the least in return, which is also enticing.
