New Details: Three Family Members Dead, One Clinging To Life After Vehicle Slams Into Trailer
SUTTER COUNTY (CBS13) — A tragic fatal car crash in a mobile home park in Sutter County leaves three family members dead.
Now one man is behind bars for driving drunk right into their home while they were sleeping
Police say the driver missed an s-curve SR-113 and drove right into the trailer
Neighbors are shocked this happened in this tight-knit community
Among the victims, a ten-year-old boy.
"We heard a big bang in and we dropped everything and ran outside towards the accident," says neighbor Jon Cooney.
Police say the driver, Ismael Huazo-Jardinez, 33, of Yuba City, was speeding and driving drunk when he crashed into this trailer inside Jennings Court.
It happened just before 10 p.m Saturday night, while the family who lived here was sleeping.
Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene shortly after police arrived.
The fourth victim is an 11-year-old girl who is fighting for her life at U.C. Davis.
Huazo-Jardinez was arrested at the scene and taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.
He was booked into the Sutter County Jail
He's facing felony DUI charges and vehicular manslaughter
Neighbors say after the crash Huazo-Jardinez tried to run away and was tackled and restrained by other tenants until police arrived
"He tried to run but he got a beat down trying to do it. A couple of guys grabbed ahold of him," says Steve Martinez. "That little girl the motorhome was on top of her and a bunch of guys got there to try to lift it off of her saw her scream but I didn't see anybody else."
A memorial outside the family home is growing tonight, as this family is left to pick up the pieces.
