Thousands Flock To Folsom To Celebrate Veterans Day
FOLSOM (CBS13) – From marching bands and color guard to a fly over, thousands flocked to Folsom Wednesday morning.
"I think it's the least we can do to show our support for the veterans," said Folsom resident Danny Del Carlo.
Three thousand participants on floats, in classic cars, on horseback, riding motorcycles and walking all showed support for those who served this country in the 15th annual Wayne Spence Folsom Veterans Day Parade.
"It's amazing, great to be out here supporting the veterans," said Cameron Park resident Karie Russo. "I mean, we owe everything to them, so it's great to see the support."
Leonard Dobish, a Purple Heart recipient, agrees.
"The number of people, this is my fifth or sixth parade here in Folsom, and we're just getting a lot of people out," Dobish said.
Hometown hero Anthony Sadler, who rode in a stagecoach, was just one of the many who participated in the parade. Sadler helped break up a suspected terror attack on a Paris-bound train back in August.
"[I] couldn't be more proud, great day to be an American, great day to be out," Sadler said.
And the message to the next generation was passed along in a sea of red, white and blue.
"It's important to start teaching them early that you know about our country and how wonderful it is, and who we need to thank for everything," Russo said.
The parade featured several grand marshals who are veterans of World War II.
