The Ultimate NFL Dodgeball Team

The NFL announced on Monday that the two Pro Bowl teams will face on in a number of skills competitions including a game of dodgeball.

The actual Pro Bowl is not the most entertaining event the NFL puts on, but a game of dodgeball is exactly what the league needs to bring in some extra ratings.

There are many different strategies one could use when putting together the ultimate NFL dodgeball team, but what would be the best way to fill out the eight starting spots?

Maybe a team full of quarterbacks could work best. Then again, they don't have the same agility as a wide out or running back. Or maybe the best dodgeball players would be defensive backs because they're used to reading eyes and where balls are going to be thrown.

The best team would be a combination of all of the skill sets. So without further ado, here is the ultimate NFL dodgeball team:

Captain: Andrew Luck

Is there anyone better to lead a dodgeball team than Andrew Luck? The Indianapolis Colts quarterback is so smart he could probably come up with some mathematical game plan using angles, ball velocity and a bunch of other Stanford stuff which goes way over most people's head.

The guy is full of heart. Not to mention, he's about as agile as any quarterback in the league and has a rocket arm.

Odell Beckham Jr.

One of the best ways to get people out in dodgeball is by catching the opposing team's throw. OBJ can catch just about any ball thrown in his direction.

Who knows if he has the arm to get anyone out throwing, but all he needs to do is dance around (which we all know he loves to do), catch every ball in sight and hand the ball off to the better throwers.

Earl Thomas

He may be out right now because of a knee injury, but Earl Thomas would be one of the best dodgers in the NFL.

Why? What skills does he have to make him good at dodgeball?

He is one of the best safeties in the league at reading a quarterback's eyes. If he can read where the opposing team is going to throw, before they even release the ball, Thomas will have the best chance of staying alive.

Jay Cutler

First thought is, why would anyone want Jay Cutler on any competitive team? He doesn't seem to have a competitive bone in his body.

But what he does have is a rocket arm. There's no doubt that he can zip a ball through the air faster than the average person. The best thing for Cutler in a dodgeball game is to get a big guy in front of him knocking throws down with a ball while the quarterback throws rockets at the other team.

Vince Wilfork

Wilfork is the man to sit right in front of Cutler and protect him from throws. He's used to hitting quarterbacks and not protecting them, but in this case, Wilfork is perfect for the job.

He's a big guy, but he has the agility of a guy half his size. He wouldn't have to move much anyways, just knock balls down as they fly at Cutler.

Tyreek Hill, Marquise Goodwin, Darren Sproles

These three guys are crucial to the dodgeball team. They need to use their speed to pick up all the loose balls. At the beginning of the game, the three of them would sprint to half court to pick up as many balls as possible.

If they can dodge around long enough, these little speedy guys would be difficult to get out and could pick up the balls for guys like Cutler and Wilfork who will primarily hang out in one spot.

They are the heart and soul of the Ultimate NFL Dodgeball team.
