Old Sacramento

On the mighty Sacramento River is a reminder of what Sacramento looked like long ago. Old Sacramento is a very well-preserved and maintained part of Sacramento's history. In autumn, with the weather cooling and the trees showing off their vibrant colors, this is a premier place to walk, shop and enjoy. Find out the reason that the streets were raised, creating a very real underground Sacramento. Visit the railroad museum, wander though the streets, have a bite to eat. Sit on the promenade and simply have a great time relaxing by the river in all its autumn glory.

California State Capital

While you're here, it just makes sense to visit the Capital. Not only is it an impressive building, the area around it is superb. Take your time walking through the Capital grounds. Stroll through the amazing rose garden, stop at the memorials and enjoy the area. The trees and bushes are all marked so you'll know what you're looking at. Sit on a bench, relax. Your camera will get quite a workout. When it's time to grab something to eat, your choices are varied, very good, and very close. It's a fine way to finish off your day in this wonderful city.
