Texas Man Fatally Shoots Three-Year-Old Daughter, Then Himself
CONROE, Texas (AP) — Authorities say a Conroe man has shot and killed his 3-year-old daughter and then killed himself after losing custody of the girl.
Montgomery County Precinct 3 Chief Deputy Matt Rodrigue tells KTRK television station that deputies were serving papers Friday at an apartment complex to let the father know that he had lost custody of his daughter.
He says the father refused to open the door and instead, started messaging to the child's mother, saying he would harm the child.
After several minutes, deputies say the man walked outside and stood with a gun to his head for about 20 minutes. He then fatally shot himself.
Deputies found the girl dead from a gunshot wound when they entered the apartment.
Conroe is located about 40 miles north of Houston.
