Task Force: Sacramento Minimum Wage Should Be $12.50 An Hour By 2020

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Mayor Kevin Johnson announced a task force is recommending the Sacramento minimum wage increase to $12.50 an hour by 2020.

The plan calls for the minimum wage to increase incrementally from where the state minimum wage will be next year. California law has the minimum wage increasing from $9 an hour where it is currently to $10 an hour in 2016.

From there, the wage would increase 50 cents a year in 2017 and 2018, then 75 cents a year by 2020.

A bill in the state legislature calling for the minimum wage to increase to $13 an hour in 2017 and then tie it to inflation starting in 2019 failed to get traction.
