Suspicious package at Vacaville post office prompts evacuations of nearby businesses

Suspicious package at Vacaville post office deemed not dangerous

VACAVILLE – Several businesses were evacuated on Wednesday in Vacaville as authorities investigated a suspicious package found at the post office.

Vacaville police were telling people to avoid the area near the post office along 200 Prairie Court.

Investigators were at the scene dealing with a suspicious package, police said. It's unclear why the package was deemed suspicious, but an explosive ordinance disposal team from Napa County was called to help deal with the package.

Police said all businesses on the east side of Peabody Road near the post office were temporarily evacuated.

The bomb squad, with the help of a remote-controlled device, eventually determined that no dangerous material was inside the package.

Officials started clearing the scene around 2:30 p.m.
