Suspect sought in Stockton hit-and-run on I-5 that killed pedestrian

STOCKTON – A search is on for a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a person on Interstate 5 in Stockton early Monday morning.

California Highway Patrol says, a little before 12:30 a.m., a vehicle heading northbound on I-5 near Charter Way struck a person who had somehow gotten onto the freeway.

First responders say the person struck died at the scene. The driver left by the time law enforcement officers got to the scene, CHP says.

Few details about the vehicle that struck the person are known, but CHP says the car may have a broken headlight and a dented front bumper or hood from the crash.

The name of the person killed has not been released. 

Anyone who may have seen the crash, or with any other information, is urged to call CHP.
