Suspect detained after restraining woman, cutting her neck in Sacramento County, deputies say

SACRAMENTO COUNTY – A suspect was detained and taken to the hospital after deputies said he restrained a woman and cut her neck with scissors on Sunday in Sacramento County. 

A report came in around 5:30 p.m. at an apartment on the 4400 block of Garfield Avenue.

Deputies said the suspect physically restrained the woman and used scissors to cut her neck before sexually assaulting her. 

The suspect claimed to have a medical emergency and was taken to the hospital, deputies said. His identification will be released when he's booked into jail. 

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. 

Deputies said the victim and suspect knew each other.
