Suspect In Deadly Stockton Hit-And-Run Turns Himself In
STOCKTON (CBS13) — A man has been arrested in the hit-and-run crash that killed a Stockton teenager on Thursday.
The crash happened at around 6:30 a.m. at Farmington Road and South Walker Lane. Police identified a suspect early with a description of his car.
The California Highway Patrol says a suspect's coworker saw news reports on the accident and immediately recognized the suspect's vehicle. That coworker urged him to turn himself in to Tracy Police, which he did.
The CHP says the suspect was passing a slower moving vehicle on Walker Lane when he hit Michael Teixeira, who was on a skateboard. The teen died at the scene.
"The suspect momentarily stopped," said Daniel Sepulda. "License plate was left at the scene and we believe he's on his way to the Tracy area for work today."
Franklin High students were sad to hear one of their own was killed on his way to school.
The road where Teixeira was struck has no bike lane or shoulder, making it a dangerous walk or skateboard ride for pedestrians.
