Student, 14, Arrested For Bringing Gun To Rocklin High School

ROCKLIN (CBS13) – A student at Rocklin High School was arrested after police say he brought a gun onto campus Wednesday.
The 14-year-old, who is not being identified, is being held at a juvenile facility. A witness reported that they saw the teen brandishing the gun after class – the second day of school for Rocklin High.
"Starting off with a bang, thankfully not literally," said David Bills, Rocklin High's principal.
Additional security measures are now in place, Bills noted.
"The Rocklin Police Department have given us additional support. We've met with the staff to make sure they can answer student questions appropriately," Bills said.
Police say the teen was arrested at his home, where officers also located the pistol
After speaking to the teen's parents, police are also charging the teen with theft because the weapon doesn't appear to belong to him or his family.
Rocklin High students say an announcement was made this morning about the incident.
"I feel like it was well-handled just because they were able to identify the person so quickly," said senior Eric Leverence.
Police have not received a report of a stolen weapon, but the investigation is still on-going.
Investigators don't think the student had any intent to use the weapon or target anyone on campus.
