Stolen SF Police Car Chased Onto Bay Bridge

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- San Francisco police say they have arrested a man who led officers on a long chase through the city and onto the Bay Bridge after allegedly stealing a police car.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports officers on Saturday were responding to reports of a man with a knife in the Marina district when the suspect jumped into the police car and took off.

Police say the unidentified suspect banged into cars across the city before getting on the freeway and heading for Treasure Island.

Officers blocked the entrance to the island from the Bay Bridge, but the suspect drove around the barricade, which is when two officers fired several shots at the vehicle. None hit the suspect.

Police say he abandoned the stolen police car and reportedly tried to carjack another vehicle before he was arrested.
