STOCKTON (CBS13) – Police have pulled a K9 off the street after the dog got loose and accidentally bit a woman.

The incident happened Wednesday during training at a vacant building in the area of West March Lane and north Pershing Avenue.

Officers say the dog ran from the building and attacked a 62-year-old woman. She suffered a cut on her leg and had to be treated at a hospital.

"The bottom line here is that this should not have happened," the police department wrote in a release. "As with any accidental bite, we've initiated an investigation to determine the facts. We are committed to ensuring this does not occur again."
