Stockton Police Arrest 8, Cite 12 Homeless People

STOCKTON (CBS13) – Dozens of homeless people were cited in an enforcement mission in Stockton, police say.

The mission took place throughout the afternoon Wednesday. Stockton Police say they were spurred by numerous complaints they've been getting about trash and other issues related to homeless in the Lakeview and Civic Center districts.

In total, officers contacted 22 homeless people in the area. Of that number, 12 were cited.

Another eight were arrested, five for outstanding warrants and three for misdemeanor violations.

Police say 17 stolen shopping carts were recovered.
