Stockton Chain-Reaction Crash Kills Driver, Injures Toddler

STOCKTON (CBS13) — A chain-reaction crash claimed the life of a big rig driver and injured a toddler.

The accident on northbound Highway 99 south of Arch Road closed the road for four hours after the accident.

It started when a semi hit another big rig, pushing it into a sedan, which then hit a second sedan.

Witnesses say traffic came to a stop, but the first semi driver didn't hit the brakes. The driver, a 66-year-old, died.

A young woman and a 2-year-old were injured.

Officers don't believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
