Man's body found in water at Calaveras Levee in Stockton; suspicious death investigation underway

STOCKTON – A suspicious death investigation is underway in Stockton after the body of a man was found near a levee over the weekend.

Stockton police say, around 8:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of N. Sutter and E. Ingram streets to do a welfare check at the Calaveras Levee.

At the scene, officers say they spotted what looked like a body in some water near the levee.

Stockton Fire crews were then called to the scene to help get the body out.

Once the body was removed, officers identified the person as that of a man who appeared to have been in his 40s.

Detectives have not released any information about how the man died, but police say a suspicious death investigation has been started.
