State Of Georgia Has First Confirmed Case Of Measles Since 2012
ATLANTA (AP) — State health officials say they've confirmed Georgia's first reported case of measles since 2012.
The Georgia Department of Public Health on Monday said an infant infected with measles arrived in Atlanta from outside the U.S. and is being treated at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Egleston campus.
State officials say they're working with the hospital and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to identify anyone who might have been exposed to the patient.
Georgia health officials say they're monitoring the current measles outbreak linked to Disneyland in California. Authorities say more than 100 people from at least 14 states have been reported to have measles since Jan. 1, with most of them having ties to the Disneyland outbreak. State health officials say the Georgia case is unrelated to that outbreak.
