South Sacramento SWAT Standoff Ends Without Suspect's Capture

SOUTH SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A six-hour standoff involving SWAT and dozens of officers is over after it turns out to be a dead end.

Flash bangs were tossed into the South Sacramento home on 24th Avenue, and the community was kept at bay for hours on Monday.

Several blocks were shut down and neighbors were told to stay put while police searched two homes on the ground and in the air.

Elk Grove investigators spotted a suspect they were looking for, but wouldn't specify what the investigation was about.

Two recent crimes that come to mind that may have warranted the response were a recent rash of armed robberies, and the murder of Marissa De Almanza—the mother of two killed last week.

After searching two homes, interviewing neighbors and keeping homeowners on edge, police didn't find the suspect they were searching for.
