South Sacramento Duplex Fire Leaves 7 Without Home

SOUTH SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Seven people are without a home after a South Sacramento fire early Monday morning.

The duplex on the 5200 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard burned the back unit, while the other suffered smoke and water damage during the firefight.

Three women were inside at the time and left after what one of them described as an electrical fire.

"If it hadn't been for one of my friends seeing the reflection of the fire from the window, we wouldn't have known it was one fire. We caught it on time," said one resident. "We could feel the heat and I was just hoping my car didn't blow."

The American Red Cross is helping the residents after the fire.

There were no injuries to report. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
