Small Fires Near Rancho Cordova Homes Being Investigated As Arson
RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) - Several small fires in Rancho Cordova along the freeway this morning have been ruled as arson.
The fires burned just south of the Zinfandel Square Shopping Center between Highway 50 and Folsom Boulevard.
There's a retaining wall that runs along the freeway with homes just a few yards away. That's where investigators think someone intentionally set several small fires around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

At one point the off-ramp from the freeway had to be blocked off because extra crews were called out.
About 20 homes were at risk, but firefighters kept the flames from spreading into the nearby neighborhood.
And around midnight, crews were called out to a fire near the post office in the same area.
This was at Folsom Boulevard and Cordova Lane. Firefighters had it knocked down quickly. Investigators think it might be related to the later fires.
