Sheriff: Body Found In El Dorado County May Be Missing San Francisco Survival Teacher

EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) — The body of a missing survival teacher may have been found in El Dorado County, the sheriff's department said on Tuesday.

At around 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, the sheriffs department says family members involved in the search for Ed Cavanaugh, 45, reported finding a motorcycle matching the description of one owned by Cavanaugh. A man's body was found nearby that the family believes is the missing man.

Cavanaugh went missing on July 17. An MQ-9 Reaper drone was brought in last week to aid the search, but turned up no leads.

The search for Cavanaugh, who teaches survival skills to students in San Francisco, spanned more than 100 square miles.

The sheriff's department says it is waiting for final confirmation from the coroner before identifying the body as Cavanaugh.
