Several tons of illegal fireworks seized in El Dorado Hills, Folsom

EL DORADO HILLS – Authorities in El Dorado County have seized several tons worth of illegal fireworks.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office says, back in October, their explosive ordnance disposal team got a tip about a large stash of fireworks possibly being stored at an El Dorado Hills public storage facility.

A search warrant was obtained and the storage unit was raided. There, the sheriff's office says more than 4,000 pounds of fireworks were seized.

Further investigation into the case revealed that a large amount of fireworks linked to the original stash had been bought by someone in Folsom.

Another search warrant was obtained, this time for the Folsom location. There, about 1,600 pounds of fireworks were also discovered.

Detectives say most of the fireworks seized are illegal to use in California, despite the packaging saying otherwise.

It's unclear if any arrests have been made in connection to the case.
