Senior Moments: Rough Around The Edges
Every USGA Championship course has it, the thick rough along the fairways that usually cost you a stroke if you find it.
According to many of the players at this year's US Senior Open, the fairway rough is one thing, but the rough around the greens can give you a stroke, physically.
Montgomerie, Watson, Langer, Irwin all agree this is the most punitive rough around the greens they've seen in any USGA event, and that's saying something.
Important to note that Tom Watson was quick to say that's the way it should be, after all, it's the Open.
Colin Montgomerie warned, if you short side yourself on these greens the way they mostly feed to the middle it will cost you.
Friday on a green side bunker, Sacramento's Keven Sutherland short sided himself and almost ran it off the green for a painful double bogie.
It is a USGA Championship and things will only get tougher into the weekend, but if you can't stand the heat, stay in the shade and out of the rough.
