San Jose Sharks Get Own Gordon Biersch Ale

San Jose's own Gordon Biersch Brewing Company has joined forces with the city's NHL team, the San Jose Sharks, to create Chum Red Ale.

"This dry-hopped blood red ale features a rich malt bill, complemented by a spicy hop aroma from imported Tettnang hops," the Gordon Biersch company website said. "A smooth yet powerful beer just like the San Jose Sharks lineup. This ale will leave you circling for more."

The Sharks twitter account announced the long-time partnership's latest product on Wednesday.

The brewing company's founder, Dan Gordon, was born and raised in the Silicon Valley and attended Homestead High School in Sunnyvale as a teenager before heading off to brewing school in Germany. His beer is well-known in the industry, as well as his own invention: garlic fries.

The special ale will become available in select stores soon, as well as on tap at all SAP Center events and home Sharks games.
