San Joaquin County Store Clerk Shot, Killed During Robbery

STOCKTON (CBS13) - Authorities are looking for the suspect who shot and killed a store clerk near Stockton.

The incident happened in San Joaquin County at the Three Palms Grocery along the 6700 block of E. Highway 88, northeast of Stockton.

Deputies responded to the scene around 5 p.m. Monday after a store clerk was reportedly shot. First responders soon found an unresponsive elderly man lying on the ground near the entrance of the store.

Medics started CPR immediately but the man was soon pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses said a suspect with a bandanna over their face came into the store with a handgun and demanded money. The man was shot as the suspect was leaving the store, witnesses said.

Another witness reported seeing the suspect running away to a waiting vehicle. The vehicle is only described as a large, black SUV that was parked on E. Fairchild Road near the store.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the incident and no arrests have been made.
