Sacramento To Host Rounds 1 & 2 Of 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) The Sacramento Sports Commission has announced that Sacramento will host the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament.

The First and Second Rounds of the tournament will be hosted at Sacramento's new Entertainment & Sports Center, the commission said Monday on its website.

The commission, Sacramento State, and the Sacramento Kings led the effort to bring the tournament to Sacramento.

"We are thrilled to welcome the NCAA back to Sacramento," said Steve Hammond, CEO of the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau. "The NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament is one of the premier sporting events in this country, and our community has a long track record of showing up in big numbers to support the best teams, coaches and student athletes from around the country. We can't wait to welcome them, their fan bases and a national television audience in 2017."

The last time the tournament was hosted in Sacramento was 2007.
