Sacramento Revels In Republic FC Win, Sets Sights On MLS

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Not willing to completely bask in the glow of Saturday night's USL Pro Championship, Republic FC is rolling out a new campaign.

"It's $50 refundable deposit what it gets the fan is a place in line," Wagoner said.

BuiltforMLS.com asks fans to help make the full pitch by placing a refundable deposit toward season tickets.

With other cities still in the running, Sacramento is asking fans to show their love by stepping up to become a season ticket holder.

"The goal is to go into these meetings with Major League Soccer with 10,000 season ticket deposits," Wagoner said.

Showing MLS they have real numbers and money behind those numbers, with the enthusiastic support of fans and Friday night's victory, soccer executives think the campaign will be a hit.

"We think if we're already at 6,100 we can get to 15,000," Wagoner said.

Some Sacramento fans are ready to buy in.

"Fifty bucks? Yeah I think I could go in for fifty bucks for the cause," one fan said.

Other fans say if it helps get a professional soccer team here, it's worth it.

"It brings people to the area. It brings money to all the vendors, and it just brings a different energy to your city," another fan said.

A big championship rally for fans is being set up. There are no firm details other than it will be on Friday at 5 p.m. Organizers haven't chosen a location, but players, coaches and of course that big beautiful trophy are expected to be in attendance.
