Sacramento Restaurant Cameras Capture Safe-Theft Suspects At Work

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Cameras captured two thieves stealing a safe from a Sacramento restaurant as the owner watched from his cellphone.

Richard Callueng says he got a message from his alarm company early this morning, and from his Rocklin home, he watched as the thieves raided Lola Ling's on Mack Road.

A string of high-definition cameras throughout the restaurant captured every angle as the two men worked quickly to break through the front door of the restaurant using crowbars.

The video shows them immediately taking the cash register before heading to the back office. It's there that they bust open the door, and pocket some cash that was left out before dragging the safe through the restaurant and out the front door to a waiting car.

The whole operation took only five minutes, and the thieves were gone before police arrived minutes later.

Callueng says his trust is shaken, but he's happy he chose to install the cameras, and he hopes the clear images will help police track down the thieves.

The restaurant lost three days in earnings from the cash register and safe, and the two doors were damaged.

Despite all of that, the restaurant was able to open on Thursday.
