Sacramento Police Searching For Suspect In Robbery, Shooting
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Sacramento Police are looking for a suspect in a shooting that wounded a woman that may have been a drug deal gone wrong.
Carmen Amezcua was left shaken by what she saw outside her home on Wednesday morning.
"I heard really loud ones, heard her screaming," she said. "She was right here, on her hands and knees, but she couldn't breathe."
She says the sound of gunfire woke her up just before 11 a.m. on the 900 block of W Street that residents say is typically quiet. She found a hispanic woman in her 20s shot multiple times crying out for help.
"I told her, 'Sit here, don't move.' She kept passing out, and I told her that we were going to get her help," she said. "Then I asked her what her name was, and who did this to her, and she said she didn't know and that someone robbed me."
Police say the struggle that led to the shooting may be narcotics related and not a random act.
Two schools, Met Sacramento High and William Land Park Elementary, were placed on lockdown for about an hour. Police searched for a black male suspect who witnesses say fled the scene in a white sedan.
The victim is expected to survive.
