Sacramento International Airport Braces For Holiday Traffic Bulge

SACRAMENTO (AP/CBS13) - Airports around the country are anticipating a bulge of business during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Sacramento International Airport officials say the airport will busier than usual Friday November 19th through the Monday after the holiday.  To encourage travelers to arrive early, the airport has added holiday performers on selected dates to bring some holiday cheer and reduce the holiday travel stress.  A schedule of the performers can be found on the airport website.

According to airport officials, Passenger traffic is up 5% over 2015 and they expect at least 40,000 more passengers in November of this year, compared to last year.  To make things easier they reccomend using Yolo Bus as well as on-demand ride share services like LyftWingz, and Uber to get to the airport 2 hours before your domestic flight departs.

Also travelers are advised to check purses and carry-on bags before going to the airport for items prohibited on aircraft and items that must be placed in checked luggage.  A list of the current regulations for carry-on items can be found here.

Airport Officials tell CBS13 that one of the best tricks for picking up family and friends at Terminal B is to tell your passengers to use doors 3 or 4 to bypass the most heavily congested doors, which are 1 and 2.
