Grant Union High School football team takes off for state championships

Grant Union High School Pacers head to state championships

SACRAMENTO – The Grant Union High School football team is on its way to the state championships in Southern California.

Thursday morning, the team loaded up onto a bus and were given a sendoff from assembled family.

Family gave the Grant Pacers a send-off early Thursday morning.

This past season has been another strong one for the Grant High program. The team had an overall record of 11-3 and have already won their third consecutive CIF Sac-Joaquin Section championship.

Now the Pacers will be heading back to the state championship – a prize that has so far eluded the resurgent team.

In 2023, the Grant High took on the La Serna Lancers in the state championship game but came up short – falling by a score of 21-19.

Friday's game will pit the Pacers against Pacifica High School out of Oxnard. The game is set to start at 4 p.m. at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo.
