Sacramento Chosen As 1 Of 6 US Sites For National Anti-Human Trafficking Team

SACRAMENTO (CBS/AP) - Federal prosecutors say Sacramento has been chosen as the site of one of six national enforcement teams focusing on human trafficking.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Cleveland said Thursday that Sacramento was selected through a competitive process to participate in the Interagency Federal Law Enforcement Partnership to Combat Human Trafficking. Prosecutors say it's aimed at streamlining the investigation and prosecution of federal human trafficking offenses.

The sites were selected by unanimous interagency consensus of the Federal Enforcement Working Group, which is made up of national anti-trafficking experts in federal agencies.

The other sites for the teams are Minneapolis; Newark, New Jersey; Portland, Maine; Portland, Oregon; and Cleveland.
