Sacramento-Born Brie Larson Wins Golden Globe For Best Drama Actress

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (CBS13/AP) - Brie Larson has won the Golden Globe Award for best actress in a drama film.

Larson, who was born in Sacramento, won for her role in "Room," in which she plays a mother trying to give her son a normal upbringing despite the fact they're both captives of a man who abducted her years earlier.

Alejandro Inarritu's bloody frontier thriller "The Revenant" also landed an upset win, taking best film, best director and best actor for Leonardo DiCaprio.

A year after Inarritu's "Birdman" took top honors at the Academy Awards, his follow-up swept three of the top awards at the Globes on Sunday.

Inarritu added best director, besting the favored Ridley Scott, director of the science-fiction survival tale "The Martian." That film, however, won best film comedy and best actor in a comedy for Matt Damon.
